Maths Week Maths Trail

3rd and 4th Class headed outside today for their maths trail. The sun was shining and it was a great day for some outside investigations. We split up into teams each starting on a different section of out maths trail booklet. We had a great time discovering maths all around our school yard.

This is us on our maths trail we are measuring the width of the basketball court.
We are measuring it with the walking measurer.

This is us finding out how old the school is. We then went to count  the windows and doors.

We are now finding out how many cylinders there are on the playground. We are also doing how many holes are in the black mat.

This is us looking for three dimensional shapes in the middle yard.

This is us finding out how long  the windows are.

This is us estimating how long the doors of  the school are.

The maths tail took us all around the school and it was fun.

This is us writing down the answers to a maths problem about the school.

We are  now counting how many bars are on the big and small red gate outside our school and there are actually thirty eight.
